BCGA's Meagan Harden wins beam at Nationals

BCGA’s Meagan Harden won balance beam in her age group with a score of 9.5 at the Level 7 National Judges Cup held in Covington, KY this weekend. The Oklahoma All Star Team was one of 16 States that competed at the competition and placed 4 th as a team. Emily Gardiner also represented the Oklahoma team and had a rock-solid competition performing strongly on all four events. In addition to the national beam title Meagan also placed 2 nd in the all-around competition in the 13-14 year old age group. In the team competition Oklahoma was just .3 from the third place team Washington, in first and second were the teams from Northern California and Pennsylvania respectively. Congratulations Meagan and Emily!

Also during this weekend Bart Conner’s level 5s through level 10s competed at Folgers Invitational’s hosted by Folgers Gymnastics. The event was held in the Heskett Center at the Wichita State University in Wichita, KS, and it included near 1000 gymnasts from 38 clubs from the surrounding states.

The level 5 team won the competition with their highest team score for the season of 111.125. In addition, Jenna Dunn and Sruthi Kaushik won the all-around titles in their age groups.

In the level 6 competition Cameo Stapleton had a superb meet winning every event and the all-around title. In addition, Lauren McDonald also won the AA title in the 14 year old age group.

In the level 7 session Bart Conner’s team placed 2 nd just .3 behind the 1 st place team but dominated two of the age groups. In the 11 year old Bekah Maxwell, Micayla Valentin and Avery Hassen placed first, second and third in the all-around respectively. In the 12 year old Christina Nguyen won three of the four events and the all-around title as well.

Level 9 gymnasts Lauren Cullen had her best performance of the season winning the all-around and placing 1 st on FX and VT and 2 nd on Bars and Beam. Jessica Karges and Hayley Daniel’s best results were on the floor placing 2 nd and 4 th respectively.

BCGA’s level 10 gymnasts (Emily Barrett, Brooklyn Schumacher, Katie Brown, Reagan Hemry, Mackenzie Valentine, Elizabeth Le and Ashley Vile) won the team title with a score of 108.95. Individually Katie Brown won the all-around title, while Emily Barrett finished 2 nd in her age group, but placed 1 st on VT and FX. Mackenzie had an outstanding debut as a level 10 winning the floor title and placing 2 nd on BB and 3 rd on FX.
