Hemry, Hill advance to Level 9 Nationals

BCGA gymnasts Reagan Hemry, 12, and Hannah Hill, 13, will compete at the Level 9 Western National Championships, in May 9-11 in St. Charles, Mo.

April 20, 2008 — Reagan Hemry of the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman won the USA Gymnastics Region 3 Championships on Saturday in Wichita, Kan.

Hemry, 12, won the all-around title in the Level 9-Junior B age group. Hemry also won the uneven bars title with a score of 9.650 and placed second on balance beam (9.325).

Hemry was one of three BCGA gymnasts competing in the Level 9-Junior B age group. Teammate Hannah Hill placed 12th all-around and also will advance to the Level 9 Western National Championships, May 9-11 in St. Charles, Mo. Hill, 13, earned top-10 finishes on balance beam (9.200) and floor exercise (9.300).

Teammate Elizabeth Le, 13, placed 20th, just missing the cutoff to qualify. The top 15 gymnasts in the Junior B age group advance to Level 9 Nationals.

BCGA's Emily Barrett, 14, placed 14th in the Level 10-Junior B category. Her top score was a 9.475 on floor exercise. Barrett is competing her first season as a Level 10 gymnast, which is one notch below the Olympic level. In this highly competitive level, the top 7 in each age group advance to the Level 10 National Championships.

Erika Glykherr, 17, competed on uneven bars only in the Level 10-Senior C subdivision before withdrawing with a heel injury.

The Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy optional girls team is in its first season with coaches Christian Ivanov, a 2000 Bulgarian Olympian; Coral Borda, a former Brazilian national team member and OU competitor; and Sally Arnold.
