Bart Conner Gymnasts Shine at National Competition
BCGA gymnasts lead Oklahoma All-Stars to impressive fifth place; win seven individual medals

Gymnasts from the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy (BCGA) in Norman led Oklahoma to fifth place in the 2008 National Judges Cup Championships, held Jan. 5 in San Diego, Calif.

In the Level 7 All Star State Team Challenge, Team Oklahoma finished just four tenths of a point behind fourth-place Team Texas, the 2007 champions. Team Southern California, Team Washington and Team Northern California finished first, second and third, respectively.

Four of the six gymnasts representing Oklahoma in San Diego train at BCGA, and combined for seven individual medals.

Jennifer Harry, a Southern California native who now resides in Edmond, won the gold medal on floor exercise in the 13- to 14-Year-Old division. Harry also won silver medals in the all-around and uneven bars and bronze medals in the vault and balance beam.

The Bart Conner gymnasts were especially impressive on the uneven bars. Jessie Barrett (silver) and Jessica Kargess (bronze) won medals on uneven bars in the 11-Year-Old age division.

Anna Bishop placed seventh all-around and fifth on floor exercise in the 12-Year-Old age division.

Other gymnasts on the Oklahoma team were Jackie Beard of Oklahoma City's Victory Gymnastics, who placed 12th all-around in the 12-Year-Old age division, and Crystal Parrett of ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville, who won the bronze medal on floor exercise in the 13- to 14-Year-Old division.
