Ivanov coached compulsories from 2000 to 2007. He is now the head coach for the girls' optional team (Levels 7-10) and a supervising coach for the compulsory team (Levels 4-6).

"I'm a big believer that in the gym, kids need to practice basic concepts that will help them in life, including responsibility, discipline, politeness and friendship," he says. "I am a strict coach, but believe in always being respectful, positive and encouraging with each child."

Ivanov began gymnastics at age 7 in his native Sofia, Bulgaria. He was a member of the Bulgarian team at four European Championships (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000), three World Championships (1999, 2001, 2003) and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He was a high bar finalist at the 2000 World Cup Final.

In 2006, Ivanov graduated with high distinction from the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in International Business with a minor in Russian.
